Privacy Policy
What New Wine collects, why, who else handles it, how long we keep it, and how to have it deleted. Effective October 12, 2026.
New Wine is operated by Proudly Studio (“we”, “us”) in North Carolina, USA. This policy covers newwine.app and the New Wine app. New Wine is in private beta, and some of what follows describes how the beta works. When that changes, this page changes with it.
What we collect
Your account. Your email address and a password. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider, and we never see them. We don’t ask for your name.
The waitlist. If you join the waitlist, we store your email address and how you found us: the campaign tags in the link you followed, the site that referred you, and the page you signed up on. To stop automated sign-ups, we briefly keep a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address, which is deleted after 24 hours.
Questions and answers. When you ask New Wine a question, we store the question and the answer so we can show it to you and keep your conversation history. During the beta we also record the topics your questions cover, so we can see what material is most needed. The New Wine team can read the wording of your questions for 90 days, after which it is deleted. The team can read your saved conversations, including New Wine’s answers, for as long as you keep them. When New Wine says it does not have enough material to answer, that question may be kept, with obvious personal details removed, until 30 days after we fix the gap. Your name and email are not shown alongside your questions. You agree to this when you start using the beta.
Please don’t include sensitive personal information in your questions, such as health details or other people’s names.
Usage limits. We count how many answers each account has used so we can apply beta limits. If you use New Wine without signing in, we keep a random ID stored in your browser, your IP address and a question count, so we can apply the guest limit.
Feedback. If you rate an answer or send a comment, we store it with the question it was about. An AI system may read your rating, your comment and that question to help us improve New Wine. It reports patterns to us, not your words.
Feature counts. We count how often features are used, such as opening the Study Panel. These counts are not linked to you or your account.
Page analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page visits, and PostHog to see which parts of New Wine people look at and use: what appears on screen, how long it stays there, where the pointer rests, and what gets clicked. Recordings of a visit hide all text and images, so we see movement and clicks, never words. None of this is connected to your account or email, we don’t keep your IP address, and it stops when you close the tab. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, we don’t record anything. We record the general type of browser and device (such as Chrome on a Mac), not your browser’s full identifying details. Recordings are kept for up to 30 days and activity records for up to a year.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your information or share it for advertising.
- We do not show ads.
- We do not use your questions to train AI models.
Who else handles your information
To answer a question, New Wine sends its text to AI providers that process it and send back a result. For answers, we use their paid services for developers, not their consumer apps. Once a week we also use our own Claude account, Anthropic’s assistant, to read ratings, comments and the questions they were about, and summarize patterns so we can improve New Wine.
- Anthropic writes the answer, and its Claude assistant reviews feedback once a week to suggest improvements.
- OpenAI turns your question into a search index entry so we can find relevant material.
- Groq expands your question into related search terms, and sorts questions into topics for the beta analytics.
- Cohere ranks the material we found by how relevant it is.
Other services we rely on:
- Supabase stores our database and handles sign-in.
- Vercel hosts the website and provides page analytics.
- PostHog records anonymous page activity, with all text hidden.
- Railway hosts the servers that produce answers.
- Resend sends waitlist and invitation emails.
- YouTube plays Podcast Moments in the Study Panel. The video player loads only when you press play, and uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. Once it loads, YouTube’s own privacy policy applies.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users or others.
What your browser stores
New Wine stores a few things in your browser: your sign-in session, your preferences (such as Bible translation and panel width), and a random ID if you use New Wine without signing in. If you use it without an account, your chat history is kept in your browser until you close the tab. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
Your choices
- Delete a conversation from your history at any time. This deletes the conversation and the stored question and answer behind it.
- Delete your account from the Profile tab in Settings, or by emailing hello@newwine.app. We delete your account, conversations, saved verses, feedback, usage records and waitlist entry. We keep a record that the account was deleted, including the email address it used.
- Withdraw your beta analytics agreement by emailing hello@newwine.app. We delete the topic records linked to your questions. Because this agreement is part of how the beta works, you won’t be able to keep asking questions while it is withdrawn.
- Leave the waitlist or ask for a copy of your information by emailing hello@newwine.app.
Children
New Wine is not for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email hello@newwine.app and we’ll delete it.
Security and location
Your information is stored and processed in the United States. We limit who on our team can access it, and connections to New Wine are encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, and we can’t promise yours never will be exposed.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your questions, we’ll ask you to agree again in the app before you continue.
